Welcome to Friends of Joshua House Foundation!

Friend and Philanthropist Bob Thomas

His presence will forever be with us. Our dear friend and co-founder of Joshua House, Bob Thomas, a man known for his wealth, faith, and philanthropy, passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2007. He was 83. The late Bob Thomas was part of the team of community leaders that dreamed of and founded Joshua House, a shelter for abused and abandoned children in Hillsborough County. Thomas was known for his munificence. A devout man with a sharp business mind and equally sharp wit, he spent his retirement dedicated to church-related and charitable causes. Actually, he spent his working years dedicated to the same. Bob Thomas is sorely missed by all of us at the Friends of Joshua House Foundation, but his co-founders, Dottie Berger MacKinnon, Olin Mott and Greg Johnson feel his absence the most. We extend our deepest sympathies to the entire Thomas family and to the Tampa Bay community. Truly, one of the best has been received by the Lord.

Fifteen years ago, a group of concerned citizens, including Dottie Berger MacKinnon, Bob Thomas, Olin Mott, Jim Zimmerman, Laurence Hall, Greg Johnson, Alberto de Alejos, and others dreamed of a safe haven for the abused, neglected and abandoned children in their Tampa Bay community. After dedicated planning and development their dream was realized in the creation of Joshua House. A place where children could be safe from their demons and healed from their wounds.
